PTO Board of Directors Position Descriptions
President – Presides at all meetings of the PTO and coordinates the work of the PTO officers and committees.
1st Vice President, Membership – Acts as an aide to the President and performs duties of the President in her/his absence. Primarily coordinates the volunteers and room moms.
2nd Vice President, Ways and Means – Coordinates the fundraising for Harry McKillop Elementary
3rd Vice President, Programs – Coordinates the scheduling of various educational programs and material that the PTO provides for the students.
Secretary – Responsible for recording meeting minutes, keeping all pertinent records, and sharing correspondence with the Board of Directors at each meeting.
Treasurer – Maintains the financial records of the PTO, and presents current financial reports to the board at each meeting.
Parliamentarian – Responsible for maintaining order at all PTO meetings, as well as assuring that the PTO bylaws are upheld.
Publicity – Communicates with the parents of McKillop via e-mail correspondence, and maintains the PTO website and Facebook page.
Hospitality – Coordinates and provides food at special events throughout the year for teachers and staff, as well as recognition of teacher and staff birthdays.
Incentives – Responsible for obtaining and distributing incentives to students, most notably perfect attendance.
Spirit Sticks – Responsible for the ordering and selling of spirit sticks, as well as coordinating with staff for spirit stick rewards.
Community Outreach – Serves as the liaison between PTO, MISD, and the community, as well as coordinating events such as the Food Drive, and Chick-Fil-A and Raising Cane’s Spirit Nights.
Spirit Shop – Oversees the ordering and sale of Spirit Wear and merchandise.
School Supplies – Organizes school supply sales in coordination with teachers and administration. Responsible for overseeing delivery of school supplies at the beginning of the school year from the supplier.
Box Tops – Responsible for the counting and submission of all box tops collected by the students.
